Wastewater Treatment Operator

Job Description

Join a growing company as a Wastewater Treatment Operator, responsible for overseeing and maintaining wastewater treatment processes to ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations. This role is ideal for individuals with mechanical aptitude and attention to detail who thrive in an industrial setting. 

Location: Waterbury, CT 

Job Requirements

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Perform all aspects of wastewater treatment, including tanker unloading, chemical additions, sampling, and reporting. 
  • Collect and document samples; conduct routine water quality laboratory tests and coordinate with vendors. 
  • Monitor lab results and ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations. 
  • Maintain cleanliness in the plant and office areas, including floors, locker rooms, restrooms, and cafeteria. 
  • Operate and maintain treatment equipment, such as pumps, valves, blowers, and sludge processing filters. 
  • Assist with hazardous waste handling and maintenance tasks as needed. 
  • Perform daily assigned tasks and other duties as directed by the Facilities Manager. 

Physical Requirements: 

  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and crouch 80-90% of the shift. 
  • Ability to lift at least 25 lbs. 
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including gloves, boots, goggles, and a respirator.

Preferred Skills & Qualifications: 

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend operational, safety, and quality instructions in English. 
  • Basic math skills for performing calculations. 
  • 6 months – 2 years of experience in wastewater treatment or a related field. 
  • Ability to independently operate equipment such as pumps, centrifuges, conveyors, mixers, and testing devices. 
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and take on additional responsibilities as needed. 

Additional Information

Job Type & Compensation: 

  • Full-Time | 2nd Shift (Monday – Friday) 
  • Occasional Saturday shifts as needed 
  • $20 – $24 per hour (based on experience)
