Job Description

Join a long-standing organization in Waterbury, CT as a Lead Maintenance Mechanic, where your hands-on mechanical skills will keep facilities and equipment running at peak performance. This role is ideal for someone who is naturally curious, enjoys taking things apart and fixing them, and thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Location: Waterbury, CT

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform all repairs needed to maintain and improve facility and equipment uptime.

  • Execute routine and preventative maintenance to minimize downtime.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues independently.

  • Operate machine tools and fabricate parts for repairs or improvements.

  • Assist in major projects, including equipment installations and facility upgrades.

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace throughout all maintenance activities.

  • Support inventory tracking for critical parts and supplies.

  • Step into a lead or crew leader role when needed.

  • Apply working knowledge of plumbing and light electrical systems (preferred, not primary).

  • Perform other tasks as assigned by the Facilities Manager or leadership.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 5–10 years of hands-on mechanical maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment

  • Strong mechanical aptitude — someone who “thinks like a mechanic” and enjoys solving mechanical problems

  • Proven reliability and great attendance in previous positions

  • Minimum 1–2 years of plumbing and light electrical experience (more is a plus, but not required)

  • Experience reading blueprints and using tools like calipers and micrometers

  • Forklift certification required

  • Strong organizational habits and attention to detail

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs.

  • On feet for 80–90% of the shift, including walking, crouching, and using hand tools

  • Must wear appropriate PPE (goggles, gloves, boots)

Schedule & Pay:

  • 1st Shift | Monday – Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM

  • Pay Range: $28.00 – $35.00 per hour (based on experience)
