Job Description

A vibrant, coeducational, independent day and boarding school in NW Connecticut is seeking a temporary, full-time Front Desk Receptionist to cover maternity leave from mid July to early November.

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Front Desk Receptionist will play a pivotal role in managing the day-to-day operations of the school's front desk and phone system. This position will also provide essential administrative support to faculty, staff, students, and visitors.

The school is located in the picturesque region of Lakeville, Connecticut and focuses on providing a supportive and nurturing environment where students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Summary of Key Responsibilities

  • Phone management
    • Answer incoming phone calls promptly and professionally
    • Welcome and assist Admissions visitors
    • Field questions from parents and others, including relaying messages to students
    • Collaborate with the IT Department to set up and manage faculty and staff phone extensions
    • Maintain a comprehensive faculty and staff phone list and ensure its accessibility
  • Mail handling
    • Sort and distribute incoming mail and packages to faculty, staff, and boarding students
    • Update faculty mailboxes and manage the postage machine
    • Coordinate forwarding of mail for departing faculty members
    • Process outgoing mail and packages via DHL and FedEx
    • Reconcile postage expenses with the Business Office
  • Website management
    • Update the staff and faculty section of the school website with relevant information, including bios and photos
  • Bus information coordination
    • Liaise with bus companies to coordinate pick-up and drop-off schedules
    • Compile and maintain a list of students utilizing school bus transportation
    • Disseminate bus information and contact details to relevant stakeholders.

Job Requirements

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced office work environment
  • Must be able to stand, reach, bend or sit for extended periods of time
  • Must be able lift heavy objects
  • Must be able to work various shifts and flexible hours

Additional Information

Schedule:  Monday - Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm
